PUERTO LÓPEZ

Puerto Lopez is a small town of about 18,000 people in the Ecuadorian coast that is dedicated to fishing, tourism and environmental protection. People who visit mostly want to relax and escape from all the city stress. Hotels and restaurants have a lovely tropical vibe. It has many attractions and is the starting point for watching humpback whales.

It’s the eco-tourism capital of the Ecuadorian coast. Located in the south-west end of the Manabí province. It covers an area of 449km² and is home to the Machalilla National Park being a perfect starting point to explore all its natural wonders. This beautiful paradise offers its landscapes, gastronomy and adventure so that people who visit can have a unique experiences that last a lifetime.

Puerto López es un pequeño pueblo de aproximadamente 18.000 personas en la costa ecuatoriana que se dedica a la pesca, al turismo y al cuidado del medio ambiente. Tiene un turismo tranquilo que busca relajarse y huir del estrés de la ciudad. Los hoteles y restaurantes tienen un aire tropical encantador. Tiene muchos atractivos y es lugar de partida para la observación de las Ballenas Jorobadas. 

Puerto López es la capital eco turística de la costa Ecuatoriana. Ubicado en el extremo sur-oeste de la provincia de Manabí. Tiene una extensión de 449km2 y es la sede del Parque Nacional Machalilla siendo punto de partida perfecto para descubrir sus maravillas naturales.  Este hermoso balneario ofrece sus paisajes, gastronomía y aventuras para que los turistas puedan llevarse experiencias únicas que el duraran toda la vida.

How to get there | Como llegar

It’s not so complicated to get to the beautiful beach of Puerto Lopez, you have several bus choices (Reina del Camino, Carlos Alberto Aray, Jipijapa, Rutas Portovejenses, Coactur). These interprovincial buses will take you straight to Puerto Lopez along with beautiful scenery.

From Quito the 295mi. journey to Puerto Lopez lasts about 10 to 12 hours.

From Guayaquil, it’s much easier. There is a shorter travel distance, just 119mi. which takes 4 hours by bus.

No es tan complicado para llegar a la hermosa playa de Puerto López, tiene la opción de escoger varios buses (Reina del Camino, Carlos Alberto Aray, Jipijapa, Rutas Portovejenses, Coactur). Estos buses interprovinciales te llevaran directo hacia el cantón de Puerto López acompañado de hermosos paisajes.

Desde Quito el viaje tiene una duración de 10 a 12 horas. Hay 475 km de recorrido hacia Puerto López.  

Desde Guayaquil, es más fácil todavía. La distancia de recorrido es mucho más cerca apenas 192km, tiene una duración de 4 horas en autobús.

Every year, between June and September during whale season Puerto Lopez registers the highest visitor flow. There are many tour operators in this area, satisfying the demand of services that thousands of national and foreign tourists have when they come here; plus many offer boats for rent to visit the Isla de La Plata and around the Salango Island.

Cada  año, entre los meses de junio y septiembre, durante la temporada de ballenas Puerto López registra el flujo más alto de visitantes. Existen muchas operadoras de turismo en este sector,  que satisfacen la demanda de servicios a los miles de turistas nacionales y extranjeros que llegan aquí; además muchas de ellas ofrecen embarcaciones en alquiler para visitar la Isla de La Plata y los alrededores de la Isla Salango.

Puerto Lopez has a large range of services; in restaurants and kiosks located along the pier, you can taste delicious typical food, plus fruit cocktails and vegetarian specialties.

The delightful gastronomy of the Manabí province is truly magnificent for many tourists. In Puerto Lopez you and your family you can enjoy the following dishes: ceviches, seafood casserole, corviche, breaded shrimp, fried corvina, seafood rice, and uncountable more delicious dishes.

Puerto López posee una amplia variedad  de servicios; en los restaurantes y quioscos ubicados a lo largo de su malecón, se puede degustar exquisita comida típica, además de cocteles de frutas y especialidades vegetarianas.

Las delicias gastronómicas de la provincia de Manabí son realmente magnificas para muchos turistas. En el cantón de Puerto López usted y su familia podrá saborear los siguientes platos típicos: ceviches, cazuela de mariscos, corviche, camarón apanado, corvina frita, arroz marinero, y un sin número más de platos exquisitos.
